Welcome to Yakima Urology Surgery Center
Welcome to Yakima Urology Surgery Center Yakima Urology Surgery Center is a Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery center which opened its doors in March of 1998 and is owned and operated by the five Urologists from Yakima Urology Associates, PLLC. The center features professional staff, state-of-the-art equipment and modern, comfortable facilities. Our surgery center employs registered nurses with special Advanced Cardiac Life Support training who are experienced in operating/recovery room nursing. They will be able to meet your needs before, during, and after surgery so that the highest quality surgical care is provided to you.
Ambulatory surgery is surgery that doesn't require overnight hospitalization and is sometimes called outpatient or same-day surgery. Patients are in reasonably good health, have passed certain screening tests and recovery care can be provided at home. Our Surgery Center has admitting privileges at both Yakima Regional Medical & Cardiac Center and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in the rare case that a patient needs to be transferred to a hospital.
Patients benefit from using our outpatient facility in many ways such as:
TRUSTED MEDICAL STAFF
Your own urologist performs the diagnostic or surgical procedure in the same facility so that you are assured of receiving quality, cost efficient and timely health care.
REDUCED COSTS
One-day surgery is more economical (as much as 40%) IN COMPARISON WITH HOSPITALS because the expenses of an overnight stay are eliminated.
CONVENIENCE
You will not be burdened with the usual hospital red tape. Minimal paperwork makes your admission and discharge much easier.
FASTER RECOVERY
For shorter procedures, recent medical techniques and anesthetics have allowed patients to recover more quickly than in the past. After discharge, your recuperation takes place in the comfort of your home with the supervision of your doctor.
Pre-admission testing and instruction is done prior to your surgery to answer questions, sign consents, have blood work drawn and other tests to ensure that your surgery can be done safely. You will receive detailed, written instructions concerning your surgery at this time.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
Please check in one hour before your surgery with the Surgery Center Admitting Clerk, who will prepare your admission. Your punctuality is important as the surgical team has planned this block of time for you. Although every effort is made to stay on schedule, circumstances occasionally arise that may require changes in your surgery time. Should this happen, please make adjustments with your escort. If you cannot keep your appointment, call us at (509) 249-3910. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop signs of illness, such as chest pain, breathing difficulty, sore throat, high fever or other infections.
Recovery time varies between one and two hours, depending on the procedure and the individual patient. For your safety, do not plan to drive yourself. Please make arrangements with a responsible adult to drive you home or accompany you in a cab after your surgery. Ask your escort to remain reasonably free of other commitments so they will be available to take you home when you are ready for discharge. In your best interest, we recommend that your escort remain in the Surgery Center or clinic for the duration of your stay with us. We strongly recommend that patients who have received a general anesthetic have an adult with them for 24 hours after surgery. You will receive instructions and be given a written copy of your postoperative home care. If you receive a sedative or anesthetic, you will be instructed not to operate machinery, sign important papers or drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours. You will also receive a follow-up call from the Surgery Center the day after your procedure. If you have any questions or problems before or after your follow-up call, please call your physician at (509) 249-3900.
